As we prepare for the new year, we take this moment to reflect on 2025.

Over the year, we’ve expanded our training library, offering new modules on trauma-informed memory care, end-of-life care, and affirming care for Transgender elders. We’re proud to continue to offer this support as care providers navigate a political climate increasingly hostile to the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ older adults.

We also acknowledge the challenges this year has brought anti-LGBTQ+ executive orders and legislative attempts to restrict access to healthcare. These efforts have a real impact and target a community which already experiences a higher rate of chronic illness, social isolation, and discrimination. LGBTQ+ seniors, especially Transgender and non-binary older adults, already avoid seeking healthcare because they are more likely to be turned away when seeking care. No one should be denied access to care based on their identity.

Being LGBTQ+ shouldn’t be political. Caring for people is not a partisan issue. When our identities are treated like politics, an act of compassion becomes an act of courage.

Your work is brave. It is moral. It is essential. Inclusive, trauma-informed care is not just best practice it’s a right. Thanks to you, this work moves forward with strength and heart.

Now, let’s keep going. Commit to more training. Share this message. Speak up for inclusion. Together, we can make sure every LGBTQ+ elder ages with dignity and care.
